Hank Hill is a good man. That’s first.

 

Why is Hank the best salesman?

 

Beyond being reliable, trustworthy, and a man of integrity, Hank LIVES what he sells.

And he is not satisfied, until he knows he has HELPED his customer.

 

Hank sells propane.

But he doesn’t just sell it.

Outside of family and Texas, propane is life.

 

If you met Hank for the first time (you had better give him a FIRM handshake if you want a second meeting), he’d tell you with pride, “I sell propane and propane accessories.”

 

He wouldn’t be caught dead grilling a steak with any other fuel source.

 

His wife Peggy once (behind Hank’s back) brought charcoal into the household.

“I thought it was drugs!” Peggy lied.

Even though she swore by the invigorating flavor of charcoal, she sat across from Hank knowing what she had to do.

“What’s it going to be, charcoal, or ME?” asked Hank.

She chose propane.

 

Another Hankism: “Butane is a bastard gas.”

 

Hank says a lot of things like this.

And even with a good-natured, constant, soft smile on his face and spark in his eye when he talks about propane, Hank is as serious as a heart attack.

 

Hank not only BELIEVES in his product, but he USES it.

HE is the BIGGEST FAN of what he sells.

HE is his own BEST CUSTOMER.

 

“Passionate” doesn’t scratch the surface.

 

Whatever you are selling; a product, service, an idea – do you OWN it?

Do you LIVE it?

How can you help someone else if you don’t first do so for YOU?

 

Hank does, and “I tell ya what”, that’s why he is THE BEST.
